Wendel says:Why do you think people take pleasure in being frightened, for instance, when they watch horror movies? Is this a self-destructive impulse?

The QM says: Wendel, I like your name. That being said, I think the fear that is evoked from such stimuli as horror movies is produced from approaching the self/other split. Anything that gives the illusion of coming close to this is attractive to people, I would say. It gives the illusion of being close, but of course it isn't really. That is why it is acceptable. You know that after you leave the theater there will be no killers. So the dream of the killers killing you can persist. When people are really killed, however, I doubt the frightening pleasure is still there. Yes, I believe it is self destructive to some extent, but what isn't these days?
Space Nomad says:I'm surprised "Sister Daisy" isn't on here. I always thought that was one of the strongest works in your oeuvre.

The QM says: What? "Sister Daisy?" I have never heard of such a thing. I also did not know I even had an oeuvre. I am a simple blog writer. I do not consider my posts works of art. But, nonetheless, I appreciate your comment.
David says:You are a dumb fool.

The QM says: Of course I know it's not true. my mind is worth more than a thousand jewels, because I spend so much time perfecting it. My advice to you, go spend another night with the bottle. Either the baby bottle OR the alcohol, because I know that is all you are capable of.
